some serious limitations
I'll probably reinstall the game to see how it goes but my favorite characters will not be allowed

Existing characters are grandfathered in at Silver level.

So tempting for nostalgia's sake.

We could at least decide on a server and have a premade character of race and class of our choice. There are Mercs now so that fills in a group. I don't think it will be a full time thing, but it could be fun for some time.

Well that sounds a little better.

Also, if I read it correctly, anyone who has played EQ in the past is automatically upgraded to Silver.

The one big thing is any character created after this goes live will be limited to the four races and classes listed. Of course one can always pay SOE station cash for races or classes.

Or more bag space, or...
Actually for nostalgia purposes the updated game will provide better stuff than we ever had.

Ten, see if the free 14 day thing is still working. It looked like it was.

Boo, sorry. We can work within the limitations if you still want to.

I actually loaded up EQ2 and are playing again. I had stopped playing WoW since November of last year and having renewed it (don't think I will for a while). But when I heard that EQ2 was FTP, I thought to myself "I haven't played it since its release and now that I have a better computer to handle the graphic requirements, I'll give it another look."
So needless to say, I'm really enjoying the game and surprisingly I'm not bored by it like I thought I might be. And what's really scary is, I remember the keyboard layout even after all these years. Riding bike theory I guess.
I do like the FTP, but there are some restrictions that's making me say "Hmmm, is $5 bucks really that bad to pay to get some bonus features." Who knows?
