Windows 10

Post by Cabkin »

I switched over this week because the free upgrade will expire in a few more days. Unfortunately my sound no longer worked properly so I've switched back to Windows 7 until I can solve that problem. I have a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer sound card and although Windows 10 thought it was working okay I had no sound from the speakers (headset seemed okay). There is a control panel for the sound card but I couldn't use it because it said I didn't have the right kind of sound card. Windows 10 said I have the latest driver but it is 5 years old and there is a newer one for Windows 10 (which I tried to install manually but it failed because I supposedly don't have the right kind of sound card).

I may try to install the latest driver while running Windows 7 and then switch to Windows 10 and see what happens but am not in the mood to do that yet.

I hope I didn't break Ventrilo while fiddling around with sound settings. :crash:

I tried to upgrade to Win 10 a few months ago and it failed. I may try again one more time before the free upgrade expires. I'm not hopeful. I had sound issues on my laptop too when I 'upgraded'. I had to force install old Win 7 drivers to get it to work. It still complains about unrecognized sound stuff, but the sound DOES actually work.

Good luck on making it all work!
